懷胎而生育。《後漢書·卷一○·皇后紀下·桓帝懿獻梁皇后紀》：「后即無子，潛懷怨忌，每宮人孕育，鮮得全者。」也作「孕毓」、「孕鬻」。
自既存事物中，醞釀出新事物。如：「孕育革命的種子。」
